DESCRIPTION:Have you ever heard the magical sound of wolves howling in unison? Every Thursday night in July and August we welcome the public to gather in our Seminar Building. The evening will start with a short presentation about wolves along with a question and answer period. After that\, our staff will silently guide the group on a short walk into the twilight. When we reach just the right spot\, the guide will then howl to our resident wolf pack in attempt to initiate a response. We cannot guarantee the wolves will call back\, regardless we do have a good track-record!\n\nNo advanced registration is required.\n\nCost: There is no fee for this event\, however donations are appreciated.\nImportant Notes:This event does not take place at the Wolf Centre. DESCRIPTION:Climb on! \nA scenic drive will take you out to Haliburton Forest’s own natural rock climbing wall\, deep in the heart of the forest. This program will teach you the ins and outs of rock climbing on a natural rock wall\, and provide all the gear you need to do it. Our instructors will help you safely gear up\, belay and encourage you as you climb your way up the rockface.  All skill levels are welcome. \nPlease Note: Minimum age of 6 to participate. SUMMARY:Public Wolf Howl
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever heard the magical sound of wolves howling in unison? Every Thursday night in July and August we welcome the public to gather in our Seminar Building. The evening will start with a short presentation about wolves along with a question and answer period. After that\, our staff will silently guide the group on a short walk into the twilight. When we reach just the right spot\, the guide will then howl to our resident wolf pack in attempt to initiate a response. We cannot guarantee the wolves will call back\, regardless we do have a good track-record!\n\nNo advanced registration is required.\n\nCost: There is no fee for this event\, however donations are appreciated.\nImportant Notes:This event does not take place at the Wolf Centre. Please go the Seminar Building at Base Camp. 1095 Redkenn Road\, Haliburton K0M1S0Doors open @ 7:30 pm\, we recommend arriving early if you want a seat. Standing room only once seats fill. The program will begin at 8:00 pmThis event is not suitable for dogs. DESCRIPTION:Join astronomer Brian Mould for a tour of the night sky. This astronomy experience takes place at the edge of 100\,000 acres of undeveloped land known as Haliburton Forest  and night skies that are void of light pollution; the largest obstacle to night-sky viewing. \nEven on cloudy or rainy nights our programs will leave guests inspired: using a power point presentation we can explore the night skies\, listening to stories of constellations and various myths\, and travel through time learning about the ancient cultures that viewed the skies as a realm with magical powers. \n\nAdvanced registration is required.\n\nClick here for more information and to register.

DESCRIPTION:This immersive wilderness workshop brings you into the forest with a single delicious goal in mind: teaching you how to find\, safely identify\, and sustainably harvest wild edible mushrooms! Popular outdoors educator and avid forager Stephan Lukacic takes you deep into science\, ecology\, and methodology of modern mushroom hunting. \nThis short\, intensive “course” is designed to demystify wild mushrooms\, giving you a solid foundation on which to build future foraging skills. The workshop begins with an engaging 90 min seminar that takes place in a beautiful outdoor classroom. You will receive a handout covering all the basics of mushroom hunting methodology\, and read and discuss its contents thoroughly. Then you’ll do a deep dive right into the forest—putting the knowledge you’ve acquired directly into practice by identifying any wild mushrooms the group encounters in their natural habitat. \nNote: You will not be foraging for wild mushrooms to take home.
