About Us

What is Yours Outdoors?

Yours Outdoors is a division of Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve Ltd. focused on providing incredible experiential programming that celebrates art, nature, history, outdoor recreation and the principles of ecotourism.

Yours Outdoors is a community of guides, environmental and outdoor professionals, artists, local characters, accommodators, restaurateurs and other service providers in Haliburton County that are all committed to delivering high quality, unique and authentic experiences, and excellent customer service.

We are hooked on Haliburton. The Haliburton Highlands truly is “a natural work of art” and a great place to live and visit. We want to share with you the scenic spaces, the friendly folks, remarkable heritage, and the engaging experiences that the Highlands have to offer. We also want to foster awareness and understanding of ecosystems, biodiversity, and sustainable living. Thus the inspiration for Yours Outdoors, a dynamic company, dedicated to making your Haliburton experience the best it can possibly be.

Our History

There would be no Yours Outdoors without Barrie Martin.

Barrie is well known and loved in our local community as an innovative, trail blazer, whose passion for experiencing the Highlands helped put Haliburton County on the map in the world of tourism.

Barrie spent much of his career working for the Ministry of Natural Resources at Ontario’s premiere natural resources education centre, the Leslie M. Frost Centre. When the facility closed 24 years into his time there, he lent his knowledge and passion to other pursuits. Eventually this resulted in the creation of Yours Outdoors in 2006. Barrie established Yours Outdoors to celebrate the nature, art, and heritage of the Haliburton Highlands by offering unique, authentic, off the beaten track experiences for visitors and residents. Barrie believes in offering adventures through exceptional experience leaders and providing excellent customer services beyond expectations.

In 2020, Yours Outdoors became a part of the Haliburton Forest family as its newest venture. Having already worked together to offer many experiences in the past, this merge felt like the natural choice as a succession plan for Barrie as he began to consider retirement. In June of 2023, Barrie “retired” from his role as the Manager of Your Outdoors, but continues to volunteer and share his knowledge to the betterment of our community.

Today we continue to carry the torch Barrie lit; sharing our passion for incredible experiences in Haliburton County.
