Walk straight into the beating heart of Ontario’s forests with Steve’s exciting new workshop, Introduction to Ontario Forest Ecology! This immersive outdoor experience invites participants to explore the intricate community of life that make up our province’s woodland ecosystems. Uncover the fascinating relationships between trees, plants, wildlife, fungi, soil, and climate, learn how each plays a vital role in shaping and sustaining the forest, and begin to understand how they all fit together as a whole.

Part seminar and part guided hike, participants will gain a deeper understanding of all the moving parts that make up a healthy forest. Topics discussed include the life-cycle of trees, fungi, and understory plants, forest succession, nutrient cycling, biodiversity, and the delicate balance that keeps these ecosystems going. From discovering the role of keystone species to identifying native plants and fungi, tracking animal sign, and observing insects, birds and animals, you’ll get a glimpse into the secret lives of Ontario’s diverse forest inhabitants.

Every session offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and see the forest through a different lens. Whether you're a budding biologist, citizen scientist, or are simply curious about the living world around you, Introduction to Ontario Forest Ecology will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the beauty, complexity, and resilience of Ontario’s forests.

Join Steve for a memorable adventure where learning literally comes alive beneath the canopy!
